Flash Mob Dance Event at the Flatiron

Inspired by an iconic image in the early 1900’s, this dance event pays homage to the 110th anniversary of the Flatiron Building on 23rd between Broadway and 5th. During that time, women’s skirts were long, to hide their legs. The unique wind currents derived from the Flatiron Building’s triangular shape caused the wind to rustle the ladies skirts, and the men stared. Local authorities voiced the word 23 Skidoo, a code word meaning scatter. The 23 Skidoo is a site-specific flash mob at the Flatiron Building which shows how an architectural structure can create its own vocabulary. The flash mob takes place June 21st from 5-6 p.m.
